God Spoke

I attended a gathering on Friday night with my friends Wade and Aaron at the small, contemporary hall of Harvest International Family Church in Geneseo, New York. The focus of the gathering, which was the last gathering of this sort since its inception over eight years ago, was prophecy. The Lord blessed me greatly there. Not only did He teach me about prophecy and give me two prophetic words from some of the ministers, He also spoke to me very clearly as I prayed during the service.
At the mention of a major revival in New York State, I immediately despaired for myself, thinking of my departure from the area. I want to be where the excitement is. Few people don’t. I want to be where God is moving and pouring out His Spirit. Who doesn’t? I want to reap in my hometown where I have spent two years sowing, but now I’m being called away just as things are ripening.
And then God spoke to me directly through His Holy Spirit (as I recorded His words in my journal), “Hey Philip! You don’t need to be there in the place of all the excitement; you don’t need to be in the ‘revival’ where a region is experiencing a paradigm shift of My making. Seek Me wherever you are, Philip. Remember, I have sent you to sow as well as reap My blessings. Don’t be discouraged. Be My ambassador, My evangelist, My [herald] of the gospel of truth. An evangelist sows the good news of My making into My children and into the lost. Even if there is a party [in New York], you would be missing out if you don’t go [to Annapolis] where I have sent you [to minister]. Sow much, and seek Me. Hear My voice and speak loudly on My behalf.”
And immediately as I recorded the last sentence, a prophetess mentioned II Corinthians 9:6, which reads, “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (NASB). That, of course, I took as a great confirmation of the Holy Spirit’s correction and encouragement.

I’ll blog the other prophecies later, after I type them. An interesting note: the word “herald,” which I inserted above, took the place of the word “harbinger” in my journal to clarify God’s intent and instructions; however, I now realized the correlation with the original choice of word and another prophecy I received in which God referred to me as a “forerunner.”

God is awesome. Maybe I’ll write a blog teaching some of the neat things that I learned concerning that often misunderstood thing—prophecy.
