Hallelujah, India

On Sunday morning I decided to attend the meeting at BRCC instead of the College’s graduation ceremony. I attended Tim’s party afterward. (There are certain ceremonies I prefer above others.) The Commencement Address, which I read, was outstanding. At the beginning of the meeting before I went up to pray for people, one of the vocalists on stage took the space between songs to prophesy. The message was simple. I paraphrase: “Now is the time to ask. Ask and you will receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened. Now is the time to ask.” Her words brought me out of some daydream into a serious prayer. I very simply asked God for the finances to go to India, believing full well that those who ask in His name with His purposes in mind will receive from the limitless riches of heaven.
Today during my hours at the Alumni Office I received a call from the secretary at BRCC. She informed me that an anonymous donor is willing to fund whatever remains of my costs to go to India. My first reaction: incredulity. My second reaction: joy. My third reaction: curiosity. My fourth reaction: incredulity. My fifth reaction: I told the ladies in the Alumni Office with a hallelujah and a big smile.

I remember last year when my mother sat down to talk to me about my third trip to India. She was concerned that I would be spending all my money from working at school on another trip. Jaipaul expressly invited me to come and dance for a conference, and I knew that I would go and dance in India. Instead of telling me she didn’t want me to go, she said with a straight face and a firm voice, “You will go to India by means of others’ donations.” When she said it, something clicked in me. She wasn’t only saying something that I wanted to hear. She was prophesying, and I sensed it immediately. She didn’t say, “You may go,” but instead, “You will go.” Praise God for another vision fulfilled today.
