Politic

Well, that was probably one of the most boring lectures ever. But the student-organized seminar beforehand was fascinating! We read excerpts from John Locke’s Second Treatise on Government, and some interesting questions were raised about the “state of nature” and the issues inherent with maintaining equality, which is a potentiality not necessarily an actuality.
With all this talk about the philosophy of equality and of requisite peace, I now need to discern how to best deal with my roommate, who kicked in our dorm door, thus breaking the knob and mechanism, while I was gone at seminar because he locked himself out. As in Locke’s perfect state of nature, is there some proportionate punishment that I, common man, must execute as part of my role in nature? Or must I defer the punishment to higher authorities, as I have inability to remain impartial and just in cases involving my properties or myself? Important questions.

Goodnight.

I suggest putting your name on a list for possible roommate changes.
