Stung and Drugged

Ouch!
For weeks since my return from India I’ve been struggling against their dominion at the restaurant and have somehow managed to go away pain-free. Today I spent a good fifteen minutes fighting paper wasps at Snug Harbor with Raid®. I wasn’t stung. But after work I ran over a nest of yellow jacket wasps while mowing my lawn. I was only stung once, fortunately, just above left ankle, and for that good bit of fortune I’m thankful. It didn’t hurt so much as I remembered it from childhood (of course, my pain threshold has greatly increased since then), but I had a small, itchy reaction to it. Now, quite precisely, it feels like someone is holding a hot pack on my ankle while trying to stab through with a sharpened letter opener.
The worst part: diphenhydramine (that is, Benadryl®)! I feel so sleepy, and I’m having trouble talking. I wonder if maybe I should refrain from driving over to my father’s house for a little while longer….

For future reference, a strong spray of soapy water is far more effective than Raid. Ask the bee guy about proportions if you ever need to know. We use it all the time.
