“More on that in my next post”

Today was a full day. It didn’t need to be, but I decided to let myself walk a little bit further out, a little bit closer to the horizon, and the rip tide of God’s presence took me in where I wasn’t planning to go.
I went to my home church’s Sunday morning meeting, as usual, and ran the PowerPoint presentation that accompanied the music and sermon. It was a lovely day, and I woke up thankful even before I knew what path I would walk. The sermon actually wasn’t one of Bret’s teachings, but my brother Garey Walker spoke about Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15-23. I had read the first four chapters of Ephesians last night, and it was fresh on my mind. More on that in my next post.
After the meeting, Tim and Tanya invited me and Andrew over for lunch. (A side note: Andrew is a friend of mine that I first met briefly at Elim Bible Institute in New York, and then again at Bay Ridge here in Annapolis nearly a year later). I didn’t know it was planned to be a large affair; Tim and Tanya prepared a large meal for a bunch of guests. Tanya’s ma and pops and two younger brothers came, a friend from church with her two children also, and another friend of ours from Baltimore. The food was nice, but the company was better. It was more than I was expecting and also more than I could have asked for on a Sunday afternoon. Eventually food disappeared and games took the place of plates on the table. Logan, Tanya’s youngest brother, was the winner.
After that, Logan was off to a meeting oriented toward college-aged folks called “Crossroads” at the Bay Area Community Church, which is a few miles outside of Annapolis. He invited me and Andrew, and we both agreed to go, in our passive, hesitant way. I could tell Andrew was tired, and I didn’t really have any excuse at all to not go. I also have wanted to spend a bit more time with Logan anyway, and this was a fitting opportunity. It was a good time. It didn’t seem like it lasted very long, but now that I realize it is past 21:30, I guess it was a full-length service. The speaker was honest and pure, and I’m sure the Spirit had worked this message into him for a long time. Some of it actually paralleled what I’d heard from Garey earlier in the day. It has impacted me deeply. More on that in my next post. It was also refreshing to hear praise leaders who are roughly my age. Andrew and I bid Logan a farewell and came back to Annapolis. I actually haven’t been in my apartment since this morning. I came directly to the computer lab on campus. I’ll get to my bed eventually. My workday tomorrow will be roughly eleven hours long. I do need to sleep.
Today was a lovely day, though. I know when I summarize some of the things the Spirit deposited into me, after I’ve digested it a bit, it will be clearer to y’all what I’m so excited about and thankful for. More on that in my next post.
