Tonight and Tomorrow

Praise the Lord.

I have a seminar tonight on the first section of our Physics readings. Aristotle is a fun read, but he’s not easy. I’m very tired. Over the past week my sleeping habits have been less than exemplary, and I’ve had crew in the mornings. I’ll get through ’nar though.
Our seminar will be (the seniors are trying to convince us otherwise) interrupted for an old tradition called “senior prank.” They interrupt the seminars after about an hour and a half, drag all the students out into the auditorium and have a skit and drink lots of beer. In past years, they would give underclassmen beer even in the classrooms, but that part of the tradition has become forbidden. It’s probably one of the least pleasant situations I’ll be in all year. I’m almost sure I’ll be the subject of scrutiny/criticism/mocking (maybe it’ll be good clean fun) in the skit they’re doing because of some of my more radical and controversial public demonstrations. I’m not at all frightened though. They’re going to use Matthew 6 to poke fun at my public demonstrations. I have the support of the brethren on campus, and the leadership here is covering me. If they want to call me a hypocrite, it seems to me that they’ll be preaching from the Bible to a bigger audience than I could possibly find on a weekday morning, and that’s quite good-sounding to me. Despite any degree of mocking that happens, I actually don’t think they’ll get too personal about it. This school is secular and there’s an undercurrent of intellectual hostility, but most of the students don’t approve of openly slanderous things. And even if it were personal, they know (because they asked) that I won’t be offended. Something the Lord has been teaching me about walking with Him and speaking His words: even a negative reaction to prophecy and the preaching of the gospel is the shaking of the foundation of spiritual walls.

On a less grave note, Abigail and Charity are coming to visit me tomorrow afternoon on campus. I’m excited to see them and I know they’ll love this place. One of the advantages to senior prank, because everyone is traditionally expected to have a hangover, the school has no classes the next day. Not that I condone the behavior, but I’ll take the day off surely. It will be good to see the girls and have them meet some of my brothers and sisters here in Annapolis. Pray that the Lord will bring them here safely.

I love y’all. Thanks for praying for me. God bless you. I’ll probably sleep well tonight, after the skit of course.
