Another one bites the dust. Here are some thoughts on the dramatic interjection of Glaucon in the midst of Plato’s Republic II, for my language tutorial. I stayed up late last night talking with my roommate and Jonathan about all things Republic, but I didn’t get any writing done. This essay is the product of about three days of thought squished into an hour of typing.
My dad is in Annapolis. He sat in on my classes today. It was a little awkward to have so many parents listening to us speak during our discussions. Having family here is great, but I can also say I’m glad that I’ll be on my own Sunday. It’s hard to get work done. It’s hard to think when someone is visiting. I know I don’t need to entertain my dad, and he doesn’t expect me to, but I don’t want to leave him hanging and go off without him. He traveled a long way to see me and I’m certainly appreciative and thrilled he’s here. I simply don’t know what to do with my appreciation and excitement.
Tonight, instead of lecture, I went to a piano concert of various sonatas by Beethoven performed by Andreas Haefliger. Good stuff. Now tiredness is setting in.
Off to fairyland. Goodnight.
