Tonight’s Update

Seminar is out now. We had our first round of discussion on Herodotus’s Histories. It’s fascinating to read, but unfortunately we skip around through some of them. Anyone interested at all in the ancients should at least take a gander at the first book. The discussion was mediocre at best, not to fault any of my peers, but we had some difficulty shifting our focus from what we’d be looking to tackle in a Socratic dialogue versus the commentary of a historian. Some of the questions one would ask of Socrates simply don’t apply to a conversation with Herodotus.

My weekend with the Englishes was wonderful. Jonathan’s family is lovely, his friends are great fun, and his hometown is a nice place to be. Praise the Lord, not only for a safe adventure, but also for the blessing of such fellowship currently in my life (Jonathan is a few doors down the hall).

Now I’ll listen to Misty Edwards for an hour or two and do some writing. I have lots of ideas swirling about inside right now. Maybe I’ll have something to post later tonight.
