I went to my first St. John’s soccer match. It was the all-college game—the seniors and freshmen (“The Ends”) versus the juniors and sophomores (“The Means”). It was a fun time, and good for me to get out and sprint around. I played for a good bit of the first hour, but when I was tired I packed up and went back to my dorm to take a shower. At that point The Ends were losing by about three goals. Most of us simply stumble around in the grass, flitting to and fro, and then collapse shortly thereafter from exhaustion or heat stroke in the intensity of this lovely, humid afternoon.
On the whole I must admit it was fun to be a part of it, even though I dodged out at about halftime. (Good times, good times.) Now that I’m refreshed, fresh, and deodorized, I’ll go down to check out the picnic.
The picture below is an example of the ultimate athlete, who, of course, is one of the heroic, Herculean all-stars playing Johnnie-ball (something like flag-rugby).
